Happy New Years!! Is it just me or is anyone else still in shock at how another year has already passed by? I was talking with a friend at how time just flies and how hard it is to think back three months ago, then six months ago, let alone January of last year! There are so many things that I have been blessed with, whether it was an opportunity to do something or to serve, down to the people I have met this year and become friends with. Year of 2014 has tremendously been a year where I had a lot of doubts and insecurities which led to confirmation in my friendships and family, my faith, and even in who I am as a person.
I ended the year with my absolute favorite chocolate cake with the recipe by the one and only Ina Garten (if you don’t follow her on instagram, you should…so jealous of her life but will save that for another day). While I typically pair the cake with the chocolate buttercream recipe she provides on the site, I wanted to pipe white roses onto it simply for more fanciness. The buttercream took me some tries to get the right consistency because it was at first too soft which made the roses wilt, then it was too tough for me to pipe out so I had to thin it out. After all was piped and done, it was a beautiful cake to end the year and to welcome the new.
Happy New Year!!
