When I grow up I want a house that has a porch that wraps all around the house with a swinging bench out front. I want to have a grand kitchen with an island the size of a queen size mattress and a stovetop that has six gas burners. Right out of the kitchen there will be glass doors that open to my vast garden where I can pick my vegetables and fruit right off of the vine. I want a couple chickens that lay fresh eggs for me every morning and a horse that I can take horseback riding whenever I want without having to pay an arm and a leg for it. I want to be surrounded by sunshine and fresh air and trees that are green in the spring and summer and turn bright yellow and orange during the fall.
I want to be able to love what I do daily and take pride in the work that I do. I want to look for my job because it is what I am passionate about and not because of the salary number. I want to be able to wake up excited for the new day and the happiness that come in life, to be able to find joy in the little things.
I want to be respected as a woman because of the way I carry myself and how I treat other people. Not because of any status or hierarchy, but because of the morals that I have for myself and for others. I want to be seen as someone who does the best I can in all things and not let laziness take a hold of me. I want my words and actions to be intentional and not accidental.
I want to live in a world that is not controlled by money, that is not controlled by power, and is not controlled by the wants of this world. I want to live in a world where we are not always counting how much higher we can get our money tree to grow. I want to live in a world where people freely give to others without striking a tally on the IOU list. I want to live in a world where people do not do things to glorify themselves but to glorify our Father instead.
These are just some of my hopes and wishes for the future. For now, all I can do is strive. Strive to treat others with dignity and honor. Strive to be free from the concept of money equals power. Strive for my thoughts and actions to be glorifying my Father. Strive to be the best person I can be.
